Interests

Major research interests involve the development of young person's understanding of the social world from the pre-school years through young adulthood. In past research, I have looked at the effects of the changing epistemic assumptions of pre-school and early school-aged children on their performance in social role-taking situations. As well I have investigated the implications of adolescent changes in young people's epistemic assumptions for their efforts to establish a coherent sense of personal identity. Related research interests include the development of moral reasoning, and the implications of cross-cultural and gender differences for theories of moral and epistemic development.
